Desk Report: A Marma youth was slaughtered to dead allegedly by his neighbour at Dakbunglow Moidham para in Bangalhalia union under Rajasthali upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.

The dead was identified as Hla Prue Chei Marma,40, son of Aungthoai Khoi Marma of village Dagbanglow.

Hla Prue was going to Bangalhali market alone from his house around 8:00am on that day. The alleged killer Mongthoai Marma,45,son of late Chaithoai Prue Marma waylaid him (victim) and then abruptly attacked with a sharp machete on him and started chopping indiscriminately. Later, Mongthoai fled the scene after confirming death of Hla Prue, said officer in-charge of Chandraghona police station Md. Asraf Unddin, at Kaptai uazila.

Later, police arrested the killer Mongthoai with the help of local people from jungle adjacent to the village on that day.

Police recover the dead body and sent it to Rangamati sadar hospital for autopsy on Tuesday afternoon, said the OC.

No one from the victim’s family came to the local police station to file a murder case till filing of the report at 7:00pm.

In a query, OC Asraf said that family members of the victim communicated with him for lodging a case. They will come tomorrow (Wednesday), added OC.
