CHTDB; Tree plantation programme inaugurated in Rangamati

On the occasion of birth centenary of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a tree plantation programme was formally inaugurated on Sunday.

Minister for Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing inaugurated it through video conference from his office conference room in Dhaka.

Secretary of the ministry Md. Mesbahul Islam was the special guest while Naba Bikram Kishore Tripura, chairman of Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB), chaired the function.

Md. Nurul Alam Nizami, vice chairman of CHTDB, Dr. Prakash Kanti Chowdhury, member (planning), Mohammed Harun-or-Rashid, member (implementation) and Rangamati sadar upazila nirbahi office Fatematuz Zahra Upoma from Rangamati head office were attended in the event.

Meanwhile, under the auspices of CHT affairs ministry, CHTDB authority has undertaken several development programmes in three hill districts. Tree plantation is one of them.

Some one lakh forty thousand tree saplings of different species were planted in 4300 paras or villages, four residential schools and in different institutions under CHTDB authority in three hill districts simultaneously.

Officials and staffers of CHTDB, government officials and staffs, elected representatives, traditional leaders, para workers, Kishore-Kishori Dal, field organisers, members of PCMC and common people took part in the tree plantation programme.

Bir Bahadur exchanged his opinion with the concerned CHTDB officials after opening the event.

Expressing, Naba Bikram said the ‘Sabuj Para Srijan Karmosuchi’ will play a positive role in protecting environment and in conservation of biodiversity in CHT region.
