National dance drama fest to end today
The five-day first ever National Dance Drama Festival will end today through staging of three dance dramas at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Jointly organised by the academy and Bangladesh Nritya Shilpy Sangstha, the festival featured 15 dance dramas directed by noted dancers of the country. Dance dramas Bismoye Jaage Pran, Ichhamotir Baake and Shyama will be staged today as the concluding presentations of the festival. Written by Debashish Roy and directed by Minu Haque, Bismoye Jaage Pran features the five elements– earth, water, fire, air and the void or ether that made up everything in the world, and their relations with one another. Written by MA Karim and directed by Amanul Haque, Ichhamotir Baake depicts the daily life of the rural people who live on the bank of Ichhamoti river. Directed by Warda Rihab, Shyama is a popular dance drama of Rabindranath Tagore depicting the life of a dancer of the royal court.
