3 police constables suspended for extortion in Khagrachhari
CORRESPONDENT, KHAGRACHHARI: At least three police constables were suspended temporarily for their alleged involvement with extortion. They have closed to Khagrachhari police lines on Sunday noon; Superintendent of Police Md Mazid Ali confirmed the matters.
The three police constables were identified as Ferozul Alam (ID-799), Muhammad Moniruzzaman (ID-733) and Hafizur Rahman (ID-831).
Superintendent of Police Md Mazid Ali said the three police constables were went to Kaching Marma's Ganjapara's residence under Sadar upazila in Khagrachhari district at around 11.00pm on last July 8 and detained him (Kaching) for his alleged involvement with drug peddling. Later they have demanded tk 50,000 as bribes for releasing him.
The three police constables have released the accused Kaching Marma after taking Tk 25,000 from him as bribes.
I suspended all the three accused police constables after a primary investigation that found the incident true, SP Mazid Ali added.
"Now all three constables closed to police lines and further action would be taken against them after upon receiving of investigation report by three members probe body headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Enayet Hossain Mannan."
The two other members of probe body were Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kanan Kumar Devnath and ASP (Sadar circle) Mohammad Roichh Uddin. (chtj-desk/Khagra-report).
