CHTRDP Project 2nd Phase

Cheques distribution to affected people

CHTJ Desk: Compensations has been provided to the people of Chayeri Bazar, Barmachhari and Laxmichhari villages who have been affected during construction of a road.

Chairman of Rangamati Hill District Council (RHDC) Brishaketu Chakma distributed Tk 5,29,2048 through cheques to the recipients on Thursday as the chief guest. A programme was organised at the conference room of RHDC.

The road of Chayeri Bazar to Barmachhari via Laxmichhari was constructed by the authority of CHT Rural Development Project (CHTRDP-2), with the support from Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Councilor of RHDC Aungsui Prue Chowdhury, Musa Matabber, executive director of local NGO Taungya Biplob Chakma and project coordinator in CHTRDP Dulal Kumar Chakma, were also attended the programme.

Brishaketu in his speech, said communication is the precondition for any development programme. The hilly region will not develop if the road communication network is not uplift. People will remember and never forget to them those who extended their all out supports in providing their own land during making the road by the CHTRDP authority. The road will play a very significant role for the people in those areas for marketing their agricultural products, Brishaketu added.

Some 16 affected people were receipt compensation money in the function. (chtj-desk/report).
