Postpone activities of medical college, science techno university---demand PCP, JS, HWF
CHTJ Desk: Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), Juba Samity (JS) and Hill Women’s Federation (HWF), associated bodies of Santu Larma-led Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) yesterday jointly took out procession in the town and held a protest rally at New Court Building area in demanding immediate postponement of all ongoing activities of Rangamati medical college and science and technology university.
Implement the Chittagong Hill Tracts accord and stop all ongoing activities of medical college and science and technology university immediately. Otherwise we will go for tougher agitation, warned leaders of three organisations.
Speakers said that we very repeatedly urging the current government to execute the CHT accord fully. But the government is ignoring our demands. Rather, it continued anti-accord activities in hills.
Government is hatching conspiracy to annihilate the jumma people in CHT and destroy our existence. As part of its ill plot, the current regime is implementing the two institutions---medical college and science and technology university despite strong opposition by the ethnic people.
They demanded for full scale execution of the accord and immediate postponement of all ongoing activities of the two institutions. The government will have to take all responsibility for any kind of untoward or unexpected incident is happened in hills if it does not pay heed our demands, they warned.
Chaired by Bachchu Chakma, president of PCP, central unit, the rally was also addressed, among others, by Arun Tripura, Juba Samity district unit secretary, Ashika Chakma, chairperson of Rangamati College unit, Rintu Chakma and Pohel Chakma.
