Fulfilling 4 decades by CHTDB
Cooperation needed for fully execute CHT accord---Info minister
CHTJ Desk: COOPERATION from the all quarters particularly from ethnic people is very much imperative for the interest of fully execution of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) accord. The government alone cannot do this job. Sheikh Hasina has enough sincerity for the proper implementation of the treaty. Hasina has made a peace umbrella through signing the accord and we all are under the umbrella now. We all have to come forward and work together for the sustainability of this umbrella.
Information minister Hasanul Haque Inu was addressing a seminar on Thursday organised the authority of CHT Development Board in Rangamati as the chief guest.
Bangladesh is a country for all community people. It’s not for the state only for Bengali. Communal forces those who want to destroy the country, they opposing the accord, and such vested quarters are instigating communal violence in the country, said Inu.
Minister said that peace is the precondition of any development. So peace must be prevailed in the hills for the sake of smooth development. After inking of the accord, huge development works is taking place in the hilly region.
Referring the full scale implementation of CHT accord, Inu further said that solution of all problems can be possible through dialogue. We cannot solve any problem without dialogue. So that dialogue must have hold at different levels including government to Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS), from ethnic to Bangalee people and PCJSS to CHT affairs parliamentary standing committee, then we could able to reach a consensus for the agreement.
There must have a separate CHT commission and an act for the ethnic people for their betterment. If we have such act and a commission, it could work for the jumma people in hills, said Inu, adding that eco and community tourism can be developed in the hilly areas by giving the priority to the jumma people.
