PCP (UPDF-Prasit) leader detained in Rangamati
CHT JOURNAL DESK: Security forces in a raid detained a leader of Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), a student wing of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF-Prasit faction), along with arms and ammunitions from a shop at Kutukchhari Abasik area under sadar upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.
The detainee was identified as Kunentu Chakma,23, son of Dhana Mohon Chakma of village Dhamerpara in Jurachhari upazila. Kunentu is a president of PCP, Rangamati district unit.
Acting on a tip off, a team of security forces from Rangamati sadar zone conducted a raid at Kutukchhari Abasik area at around 2:30pm and detained Kumentu from a shop owned by Jotsna Ma on Saturday. Security men cordoned off the shop and captured Kunentu. Security personnel recovered a foreign made pistol with five rounds of live bullets from his possession and Tk 4 alkhs in his possession.
Later, he was handed over to Kotwali police along with arms and ammunitions on the same day.
Filing of a case was under process with Kotwali police station in this connection, said Mir Zahidul Haque Roni, officer in-charge of Kotwali police station.
In a press release, UPDF condemned the arrest of their leader and activists by the security personnel yesterday. The release signed by Niron Chakma, claimed that the detainee was innocent. As part of ulterior motive, the government by it forces trying to destroy UPDF and jumma people. (Reproduced of the report will be considered as criminal offense).
