UPDF man, villager killed by terrorists’s brush fire in Khagrachhari

UPDF blamed vested quarters for the killing

SHANTIMOY CHAKMA: A member of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF-main) and a villager were killed in a brush fire by the unknown armed terrorists at Banchhara village under Dighinala upazila in Khagrachhari district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Babu Chakma alias Rijhang,30, son of Sushil Bhusion Chakma, a member of UPDF and a villager named Sudibya Kanti Chakma,25, son of Birendra Mohon Chakma of Banchhara village.

A gang of armed criminals came to at Banchhara village around 9:00am and they sprayed bullets from a point-blank range on the duo when they were playing chess at courtyard one of a house there, leaving them dead on the spot. The assailants fled the scene away after confirming dead of the two, said sources from Dighinala police station.

No case was lodged till filling of this report as of Tuesday at 8:00pm.

In a press release, Angya Marma, organiser of UPDF (main) and president of Gono Tantrik Juba Forum (GTJF), a youth body of UPDF, strongly condemned the heinous killing by the members of so-called ‘Jumma Razakars’. The attackers who are under the shelter of a vested quarters operated the cowardly attack in broad daylight, he claimed.

Angya Marma demanded to stop such backing of the killers by the vested quarters immediately. He also demanded for immediate arrest the killers and bring them into book for exemplary punishment.
